WEBSITES OF INTEREST TO INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS STUDENTS

The following is a list of some websites which students enrolled in International Relations courses at European University may found useful. Except where noted their contents are available for free.

 

GENERAL

  • Jamestown Foundation (http://www.jamestown.org/). Prestigious US think-tank specialised in Eurasia, China and Terrorism. Almost all materials available for free, including their “Eurasia Daily Monitor” and “China Brief” newsletters. Strongly recommended to students.
  • Stratfor (www.stratfor.com). Private intelligence corporation. Most current articles available to subscribers only. Its series on the geopolitics of different countries (available for free) is particularly noteworthy. Its video dispatches are available for free from their website or their Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/STRATFORvideo). Strongly recommended to students.
  • International Relations and Security Network (http://www.isn.ethz.ch/). Its articles deal with all sorts of topics.
  • Center for Contemporary Conflict, US Navy Postgraduate School (http://www.ccc.nps.navy.mil/research/). It contains a number of interesting research papers.
  • The Heritage Foundation (http://www.heritage.org/). Its lectures are available as audio files from their website and deal with many issues.
  • The Times (www.thetimesonline.co.uk). Prestigious London-based newspaper.
  • The Economist (http://www.economist.com/). Prestigious London-based weekly magazine.

 

SECURITY AND DEFENCE

  • International Institute of Strategic Studies (http://www.iiss.org/). Prestigious London-based think-tank. Most materials are available to members only.  
  • Center for Defense Information (http://www.cdi.org/). Of interest for students wishing to learn more about missile defence and military uses of space.
  • Strategic Studies Institute, United States Army War College (http://www.strategicstudiesinstitute.army.mil/). It contains many papers and shorter reports on national security issues.
  • The Long War Journal (http://www.longwarjournal.org/). It provides links to stories and articles on asymmetric conflicts all over the world.
  • Federation of American Scientists (http://www.fas.org/). It contains useful materials for students interested in nuclear weapons and strategy.

  • Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection (http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/). You can find all sorts of maps in this website.
  • Churchill Centre (http://www.winstonchurchill.org/). Devoted to the life deeds of Winston Churchill. Some materials available only to members.
  • RAND Corporation (http://www.rand.org/). Reports covering all sorts of issues, an executive summary is usually provided alongside full papers.
  • Open CRS (http://opencrs.com/). Website which regularly posts papers published by the Congressional Research Service, a public think-tank serving the US Congress.
