It was a fantastic night for more than 60 students and 10 faculty members at European University Barcelona, who enjoyed our annual Christmas party at the Hotel Majestic on Passeig de Gràcia. Professor Pio Vergés was honored during the evening for his 21 years with European University as Professor of Finance on European University Graduate Programs.
While a wonderful evening was enjoyed by all, the focus of the night was the successful fundraising event hosted by European University Barcelona for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The Student Board is to be commended for their organizational skills, which saw the night run flawlessly, with more than 700 euros being raised for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Ms. Leticia Andrades, General Manager of Make-a-Wish Spain, gave a brief presentation of the foundation, explaining its roots and objectives, and thanked European University for its commitment. European University Barcelona Dean Christine Clarke led an auction, together with the student board, which raised more than 450 euros.
There were a number of fantastic prizes and the winners were Veronika Hudakova, first year BBA student from Slovakia, with a EU suitcase, Aleksandr Kvirkvelia (lucky owner of an iPod!), Elizaveta Tikhonova who got a brand new watch. Congratulations to Arturas Banys and Anna Berezova who won a T-Shirt and hoodie, and to the Olympus camera winner, Hugo Seilern Aspang!
Students and faculty alike thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed setting of the Hotel Majestic and continued on to Fahrenheit and Sutton, two of the liveliest night clubs on the Barcelona scene, for dancing after the dinner concluded.
