{"id":20888,"date":"2017-03-21T16:22:30","date_gmt":"2017-03-21T14:22:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.euruni.edu\/blog\/?p=20888"},"modified":"2019-03-27T13:40:47","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T11:40:47","slug":"online-mba-munich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.euruni.edu\/blog\/online-mba-munich\/","title":{"rendered":"Online MBA Students Get on Campus at EU Munich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eleven of our Online MBA students joined us at <a href=\"https:\/\/eumunich.com\/life-on-munich-campus\">EU Munich<\/a> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/online.euruni.edu\/on-campus-weeks\"><strong>On Campus Week<\/strong><\/a>. While the official excuse for the<strong> five-day event<\/strong> was final exams, this on-campus component allows <strong>online students to mak<\/strong><strong>e personal connections with classmates and faculty <\/strong>while<strong> networking with business leaders and multinational companies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20943\" src=\"https:\/\/www.euruni.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_5617-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5617\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Upon arrival in Munich, our graduate students got straight to business with their Global Economics exam. They were quickly rewarded for their hard work with some hardy local food and drink at Donisl, a traditional German restaurant with a modern twist. The German culinary experience continued with pork knuckles, potatoes and of course, beer in exceptionally large glasses.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Guest Speaker Sessions<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After students completed their exams (with flying colors, we&#8217;re sure), they attended two<strong> guest speaker sessions with German business leaders.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first guest speaker was <strong>Sascha Mennel, founder of Comma Publications<\/strong>. With more than 10 years of business management experience, Mennel has a strong background\u00a0in the areas of publishing, media, entertainment, merchandising and FMCG, having developed concepts for companies such as McDonald\u2019s, Disney and Unilever. He is also a former board member of the International Licensing Association (LIMA).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20945\" src=\"https:\/\/www.euruni.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_5704-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5704\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our second guest speaker was <strong>Malte Zeeck,<\/strong> <strong>founder and co-CEO of global expat community InterNations<\/strong>. During his university studies, Zeeck impressively undertook military service and a career as a flight attendant. Once graduated, he worked with multiple TV stations and produced documentaries for diverse countries around the world. Zeeck spoke about his love of travel and how passion and learning about other cultures inspired his business idea.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Industrial Visits<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Students then went off campus for industrial visits to Munich multinationals <strong>BMW<\/strong> and <strong>Spaten Beer<\/strong>. A tour of the BMW Group Plant Munich gave students a behind-the-scenes look at automobile manufacturing. Students saw the press, body, paint, engine, interior equipment, seats, as well as the assembly process. While Spaten gave students a refreshing insight into the beverage industry. During the tour, students explored the world of beer production from logistics to bottling processes. Naturally, they couldn&#8217;t leave without sampling the product and enjoyed a <strong>beer tasting<\/strong> to cap off the visit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24633\" src=\"https:\/\/www.euruni.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_9166-1024x685.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"745\" height=\"498\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A very social dinner at Italian restaurant, H&#8217;ugo&#8217;s Pizza-Bar-Lounge, concluded the on-campus week. EU Munich&#8217;s managing director, Andr\u00e9 Schlipp and EU Blended Online Programs academic dean, Dr. James Mulli (pictured, beer in hand) were both in attendance, not only for the delicious food but for an intimate dinner that allowed students to connect personally with their teachers and colleagues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On-campus weeks are a crucial part of our online programs. Online MBA and EBBA students visit each country that EU has a campus.
