Megatrends such as autonomous driving, electrification, mobility services and connectivity are among the challenges facing manufacturers today.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a recent guest speaker session for students at our\u00a0Barcelona campus, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jan-conesa-sagrera-01b86726\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Jan Conesa (opens in a new tab)\">Jan Conesa<\/a> discussed\u00a0communications and PR in the context of a\u00a0rapidly\u00a0changing automotive industry. He elaborated for students\u00a0the skills needed to flourish in\u00a0this\u00a0challenging, fast moving and competitive\u00a0business.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jan is a multilingual motoring journalist with a master\u2019s degree in automotive journalism from Coventry, the automotive cradle of the U.K. He currently\u00a0works\u00a0for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seat.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"SEAT (opens in a new tab)\">SEAT<\/a> product communications, dealing with media relations and product presentations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEAT &#8211; The Perfect Automotive Case Study<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using the example of SEAT, Jan showed students how to communicate in&nbsp;a challenging and&nbsp;changeable&nbsp;environment.&nbsp;SEAT is the only brand in Spain that designs, develops, manufactures and&nbsp;sells&nbsp;cars, making it the perfect company to use&nbsp;for&nbsp;an informative case study.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, PR is changing\u00a0rapidly\u00a0due to\u00a0digitalization and a\u00a0growing\u00a0number of\u00a0online events. The resulting\u00a0intense media attention makes now\u00a0a great time to study the myriad approaches PR departments are\u00a0taking to managing their communications and getting the best\u00a0possible outcomes for brands and products.\u00a0Looking at the decisions, successes and\u00a0failures\u00a0in play now, prepares students with insights and context that\u2019ll enable them to get off to a flying start following\u00a0graduation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Finding Your Feet in the Automotive Industry<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jan offered some advice to help students stay ahead of the competition: \u201cFollow\u00a0news about the industry\u00a0and keep reinventing yourself\u00a0in terms of communication techniques.\u201d This advice to place a continued focus on learning is one that has been heard from many of the\u00a0prestigious\u00a0speakers\u00a0and global business leaders\u00a0EU has hosted.\u00a0Given the additional uncertainty in the world right now,\u00a0this is\u00a0especially pertinent advice; graduates need to be\u00a0prepared\u00a0to excel in a fluctuating and challenging economic environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the global automotive industry is\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/574151\/global-automotive-industry-revenue\/\" target=\"_blank\">predicted to grow to just shy of 9 trillion US dollars by 2030,<\/a>\u00a0it is certainly a lucrative career choice. And\u00a0working in\u00a0automotive\u00a0communications and\u00a0PR\u00a0offers a challenge for driven\u00a0graduates\u00a0to\u00a0really sink\u00a0their teeth into.\u00a0Jan advised students: \u201cWorking in automotive PR is very demanding.\u00a0It is a fast-changing environment in which problems arise and you must react rapidly and effectively. In order to do well you must <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euruni.edu\/blog\/skills-hot-demand-coronavirus-recovery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"develop plenty of hard skills (opens in a new tab)\">develop plenty of hard skills<\/a>, but a positive attitude towards life and your job\u00a0will\u00a0also\u00a0contribute\u00a0a very high percentage\u00a0of\u00a0your\u00a0success.\u201c\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And for students eager to turn their passion into a career, studying communications and PR offers transferable expertise that can be applied across industries.&nbsp;Jan explained, \u201cI\u2019ve been passionate about cars and motorbikes since I was a kid, I always wanted my hobby to become my job.
