However, the definition of what innovation is \u2013 and why it\u2019s so important \u2013 can make the concept seem confusing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business innovation means introducing a new concept to your company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This could be in the form of a new product, strategy, service, or communication method. Whatever it is that you bring to the table, it should have the ability to provide value and fuel growth for your business<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But innovation doesn\u2019t just come down to generating ideas, it relies on managers listening to creative concepts and finding the best solutions to implement them. Models of innovation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Innovation isn\u2019t a completely black and white phenomenon. There are three main approaches that businesses can use to come up with more innovative, profitable ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three different models are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Revenue model innovation:<\/strong> This is where managers look to their revenue model to help uncover more innovative solutions. The goal of this approach is to increase revenues and profits by creating new products, discontinuing other products, changing supply chain, or updating pricing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Industry model innovation: <\/strong>This is where companies look at the industry they\u2019re operating in to help come up with innovative ideas for improvement. Using this approach, a business may choose to target new industries, or create a whole new industry to sell their innovative products and services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Business model innovation: <\/strong>This is where a business looks at its business models as a whole in order to find opportunities for innovation. They may choose to take an innovative approach to their business processes, strategies or technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
