BA (Hons) in Business
The BA (Hons) in Business program is a six-semester, three-year program (180 ECTS) which is designed with an interdisciplinary focus. Courses comprise of formative and summative assessment as well as group work and presentations.
The program has been developed to ensure students acquire an integrated, balanced, and dynamic business education. The need and relevance of agility for an organization is bedded in each course delivery and assessment, enabling the student to see how and why an organization must function to ensure profitability, sustainability, relevance and growth.
Program Structure
All students study the same subjects during their first year. This honors degree course offers students considerable flexibility in their choice of second- and third-year subjects which are selected from the different BA (Hons) in Business degree pathways offered at EU Munich. This allows students to choose electives and orientate their studies towards preferred subjects. A wide choice is available from a range of electives across disciplines. Students of the general Business degree must choose their two electives from different specialist pathways. Their studies culminate in a final year capstone research project.

Developing an Enterprising Mindset

Therefore, this module is all about developing an enterprising mindset and business acumen, scaffolding personal and professional development and then applying these in a real-life situation.

Learning to Learn

The course builds upon existing learning and equips the student with the skills required in academic and business contexts. This basic financial knowledge is essential to anyone wishing to pursue a career in business, whether on a self-employed basis or in a larger corporation.

Operations, Supply Chain & IT

Quantitative Skills for Business

These are key skills required by the Chartered Management Institute. Students will gain the confidence and experience to prepare an analysis of real data that will inform a business decision or underpin a business strategy. These skills also prepare students for evidence- based analysis required in other program modules, including finance, marketing and strategy. This module contributes to the CMI accreditation for BA (Hons) Business Management students.

Managing Financial Resources

Business Ethics and Research Practice

The importance of leadership and teamwork in relation to ethical practices will be appraised. The course will be delivered using a combination of teaching and learning strategies including lectures, case studies, published research papers, and self-directed learning. Managing Performance Through People

This module analyses the range of human resource management (HRM) activities undertaken within organisations to manage the performance of its employees and explores the devolution of many of these roles and responsibilities to line managers. Students will learn about best practice and key elements of managing digital marketing in an ‘always on’ 24/7 environment. Assessment for this module is coursework-based, designed to provide practical life and employment skills by developing an outline digital marketing plan. Advanced Economic Perspectives

The Business Consultancy Project Part I

Improvements bridge the gap between current and required performance to add value and achieve and sustain a competitive advantage in the long-term. Effective consultation and project management using appropriate business improvement and research methodologies is key to the successful implementation of change. In this module students will explore how to plan, organize, motivate, and control resources to achieve defined goals, on time and to agreed cost and quality criteria. Using a consultative approach, students will be challenged to make decisions based on their own research to provide practical advice and solutions to real-life scenarios taking into consideration the organization’s constraints. They will liaise with employers, establish agreed objectives and present their findings in a clear, business-focused report and presentation.

Marketing Across Cultures

Students will assess their skill acquisition across the program and prepare a Personal Development E-Portfolio which they can use subsequently to aid career choice and continuing professional development. Human Resource Development (elective)
Show detailsThe course provides students an opportunity to focus on the HRD (Human Resources Development) aspect of Human Resources Management; on the HRD function within organizations, and the theory of adult learning processes. Students will apply these through analyzing needs and designing and implementing learning interventions in support of Organizational strategy. The course also gives students an indication of the real world of HRD by introducing them to the politics and dynamics of the modern HRD function. HRM stream students need to focus on the learning function within organizations as a major HRM subset and responsibility. As the learning function becomes more and more decentralized, and as training and development responsibility is more and more within the remit of line managers, students in other streams, need as potential managers to be able to understand the learning function, assess different methods and interventions, and design simple interventions.
Contemporary Performance Management (elective)

Corporate Law and Governance (elective)

Advanced Business and Commercial Law (elective)

The course is aimed at students who have an interest in developing their knowledge and understanding of the regulatory restraints and obligations imposed upon the operation of commercial entities. This course is increasingly important in today’s regulation and compliance driven world and students will acquire in depth knowledge on data protection, GDPR as well as Intellectual Property. Furthermore, the student will acknowledge the importance of professional duty of care as well as the impact of consumer protection law.

This course will specifically address cloud technologies from a networking and security perspective. The course will allow the student to understand traditional networking, and also address the typical network setup of cloud computing architectures. It will also allow the student to identify and mitigate against the security risks associated with cloud computing.

The student will be introduced to the concepts of cloud applications design, development, and deployment. The Business Consultancy Project Part II
Show detailsImprovements to processes, services, products, people, and systems are core to the strategy of organizations. Improvements bridge the gap between current and required performance to add value and achieve and sustain a competitive advantage in the long-term. Effective consultation and project management using appropriate business improvement and research methodologies is key to the successful implementation of change. In this module students will explore how to plan, organize, motivate, and control resources to achieve defined goals, on time and to agreed cost and quality criteria. Using a consultative approach, students will be challenged to make decisions based on their own research to provide practical advice and solutions to real-life scenarios taking into consideration the organization’s constraints. They will liaise with employers, establish agreed objectives and present their findings in a clear, business-focused report and presentation.

International Entrepreneurship
Show detailsThis module seeks to develop an understanding of the emerging area of international entrepreneurship and how that knowledge can be applied in a real-life situation. In recent years, international business and entrepreneurship have been coalescing into a single cognate area. Trading blocs such as the EU have placed emphasis on entrepreneurship as an engine of economic growth and the trend towards greater international involvement of SMEs is accelerated by technological advances. At the same time globalization has prompted the re-emergence of local cultures which influence the growth of entrepreneurship in diverse ways. We can therefore see a tension between the global and local elements. Creating an in-depth appreciation of these elements will enable students to apply theory to inform, evaluate and enhance potential international entrepreneurial ventures.

The course assists students in adopting an appropriate project management perspective with regard to the importance and relevance of Project Planning Techniques within Project Management. The course provides the context for application of theories and concepts to the workplace. The project management simulation will take the form of participation in a business game where students will apply the knowledge they have gained to resolve a workplace problem incorporating role play. Students will assess their skill acquisition across the program and prepare a Personal Development E-Portfolio which they can use subsequently to aid career choice and continuing professional development. Students will complete Learning Logs as they progress to facilitate recording of skill acquisition.

Human Resource Development (elective)

Students will apply these through analyzing needs and designing and implementing learning interventions in support of Organizational strategy. The course also gives students an indication of the real world of HRD by introducing them to the politics and dynamics of the modern HRD function. HRM stream students need to focus on the learning function within organizations as a major HRM subset and responsibility. As the learning function becomes more and more decentralized, and as training and development responsibility is more and more within the remit of line managers, students in other streams, need as potential managers to be able to understand the learning function, assess different methods and interventions, and design simple interventions.
