From Peru to Munich: How an MBA at EU Business School Helped Lucero Build an International Career
For many professionals, studying abroad is an opportunity to expand their perspective, gain international experience and build a career in a new environment. For Lucero Morocho, a human resource professional from Peru, that opportunity led her to Munich.
After several years working in the engineering sector across Latin America, she wanted to better understand the European market and continue developing her career internationally. An MBA at EU Business School helped her achieve exactly that. She went on to work in Germany within an international company, gaining valuable experience in a global environment. Today, she is focused on the next stage of her professional journey, with plans to continue building her future in Germany.
Her story reflects what many ambitious professionals are looking for: international exposure, strong career prospects and the confidence that comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.
Choosing Germany and Discovering Munich
Before moving to Europe, Lucero had already built strong professional experience. But she wanted to grow further and explore opportunities in one of the world’s leading industrial economies.
Germany quickly became her top choice.
“I wanted to study in Europe in a place where I could also continue growing within technology and engineering-driven industries,” she says. “Germany offers strong opportunities in these fields and a very dynamic international environment.”
Munich, in particular, stood out for its balance between career prospects and quality of life. “Munich is not only one of the best cities to live in Germany,” Lucero explains, “but also a place where you can find opportunities in both global corporations and innovative smaller companies. That diversity really makes a difference.”

Learning from Real Industry Experience
When Lucero began searching for an MBA, she wanted more than theory; she was looking for a program that would connect her to the European business world and provide practical insights from experienced professionals.
At EU Business School, she found exactly that. “The lecturers were very approachable, and many had worked in major companies in Munich, like Siemens. Learning from people with real industry experience was incredibly valuable,” she says.
This connection between academic learning and real business practice helped her better understand how companies operate in Europe. The program also introduced her to current developments shaping today’s workplace, including technological innovation and artificial intelligence.
Having completed her bachelor’s degree several years earlier, the MBA also helped her refresh her knowledge and stay aligned with how the business world is evolving.
For Lucero, the MBA was not only a way to refresh her knowledge but also to stay aligned with a constantly evolving business world. “It helped me understand how the market works today and how technology is transforming many industries.”
Managing Work and Study
Like many MBA students, Lucero had to learn how to balance her studies with professional responsibilities. Managing both at the same time required discipline, organization and determination.
“At first, it was quite challenging,” she admits. “There was a lot of reading and assignments, and I was also working.”
However, this combination also brought advantages. Many of the concepts she learned in class could be applied directly to situations she encountered at work.
She also realized that the lessons and guidance from her classes gave her the tools she needed to tackle challenges at work.
“My lecturers were always willing to listen when I had challenges at work, and they often gave helpful ideas,” she says. “That support made a big difference.”
Building Confidence in an International Environment
One of the most valuable aspects of Lucero’s MBA experience was studying alongside classmates from many different countries. Working in multicultural teams helped her develop skills essential in international companies today.
“The MBA helped me gain confidence working in English and collaborating with international teams,” she says. “The constant exchange of ideas and real case discussions really prepared me to navigate complex, real-life situations.”
Today she works with colleagues from Europe, India and China. Being part of such a diverse team requires understanding different perspectives and communication styles.
“At first, it was exciting yet challenging, as everyone thinks differently,” she explains. “Over time, we learned to collaborate and understand each other better.”
This experience has helped her feel comfortable working in a truly global environment.
Networking That Opens Career Opportunities
Beyond the classroom, networking opportunities at EU Business School also played an important role in her journey. Events such as immersion weeks, conferences and company visits allowed her to meet professionals from leading global organizations.
“My favorite experience was the immersion week,” she says. “We attended conferences with companies like Siemens and Allianz, and I connected with professionals working at companies such as Microsoft and Airbus.”
These connections helped her better understand the German job market and expand her professional network. She also received guidance from the school’s career support team when preparing for job interviews.
“One advisor helped me understand how interviews work in Germany,” Lucero recalls. “She explained that employers often want candidates to talk about measurable results and numbers when describing their achievements.”

Turning an MBA Into a Long-Term Career
Lucero worked in human resources in Munich, holding a work permit as a highly qualified professional in Germany. She focused on campus hiring for technical roles while supporting full-cycle recruitment processes, gaining hands-on experience in sourcing, screening, interviews, and candidate engagement. She believes her international MBA was key during this stage of her career, helping her build the confidence and skills needed to succeed in an international and multicultural work environment.
Her advice for prospective students is simple. Plan ahead, stay open to new cultures and build connections.
She also recommends learning German before arriving, as knowing the local language can open even more opportunities, even though many companies operate in English.
A Life-Changing Decision
Moving to Germany meant leaving behind family, friends and a stable job in Peru. It was a big decision and a major personal challenge. But for Lucero, the experience has been worth it. “When I moved to Germany, I left my comfort zone completely,” she says. “But I achieved the goals I set for myself.”
Her story is a reminder that sometimes the biggest professional growth comes from taking a bold step forward.
